This is a sewing pattern for a pirate hat, also known as a tricorn hat.
It is made using thick fusible interfacing. If you want to adjust the shape, you can insert wire around the edge to make it look neat and stable.
The construction is simple, so it is recommended even for beginners.
By adding feather or decorative trims, it becomes a gorgeous costume item for Halloween, cosplay, or stage performances.
After printing, paste the pages together along the joining lines and cut out the pieces. Seam allowances are already included in the pattern, so you can use it as it is.
(1) Iron fusible interfacing onto the top, side, and brim pieces.
(2) Sew the side pieces together and stitch along the seam.
* Cut off any extra seam allowance.
(3) Sew the top and side together. On the side without interfacing, press the seam allowance open and stitch it down.
* Cut off any extra seam allowance. Do the same for both the outer and lining fabric.
(4) Sew the side and brim together and stitch along the seam.
* Cut off any extra seam allowance. Do the same for both the outer and lining fabric.
(5) Place the two layers together. Insert wire along the bias line of the brim and cover it with bias tape.
* It is better to tack the wire to the seam allowance to keep it in place neatly.
(6) Sew the ends together at a hidden spot on the inside to finish.
