This is a simplified pattern for a tailcoat.

The chest pocket is a dummy pocket, and there is no lining for simplicity.

As the tail portion is made extremely long, it's not intended for formal party use.

Mainly, it's for use in events such as cosplay, stage costumes, dance costumes, fancy dress, Halloween, etc.

If you desire a lining, I've marked the facing line, so you can create a lining pattern from there.

Since the front design is open, there is some flexibility in sizing, but

During pattern drafting, I've slimmed it down a bit, so if you plan to layer underneath, it's recommended to go one size up.

The collar is also made quite narrow, so if you're concerned, feel free to make it wider.

After printing, paste it according to the pasting line,Cut and use.

The pattern has a seam allowance, so it can be used as is.

* Cut or trim the slippery parts of the fabric for shaping.

(5) Serge/overlock the shoulders and sides of the "Front bodice" and "Back bodice", and serge/overlock the sides of "Front bodice side" and "Back bodice side".

(6) Sew the shoulders and sides of the "Body" together, press open the seam allowance (S/A) with an iron, and shape.

(7) Attach the "Collar" with fusible interlining to the "Collar" position on the "Body", and press seam allowances open with an iron.

(10) Sew the left and right sides of the swallowtail together to make two identical pieces, sew them together in a bag-like shape, turn them inside out, and shape them.

* When turning inside out, cut off any excess seam allowance (S/A).

(11) Attach the swallowtail to the "Body" at the attachment position of the swallowtail, aligning it with the hem seam allowance (S/A) of the "Body", fold it up 1cm (0.5in) inside with an iron, and secure with topstitching for stability.

(12) Serge/overlock both sides of the "Sleeve", sew the sides together to shape the "Sleeve".

(13) Insert ease stitches at the upper part of the "Sleeve" armhole, serge/overlock the hem, fold it 1cm (0.5in) with an iron, and sew on a sewing machine.

* The "Sleeve" cannot be attached without inserting ease stitches with a running stitch.

(14) Attach the "Sleeve" to the "Body", and serge/overlock the armhole.

(15) Make a decorative belt and attach it to the "Body" along with decorative buttons.

(16) Sew decorative buttons onto the "Body" at the positions marked for decorative buttons.
